Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India (GoI)

 

In March, 1954, an Organisation and Method (O & M) Division was set up in Cabinet Secretariat as a follow up on one of the recommendations made by Paul H. Appleby. In March, 1964, a Department of Administrative Reforms was set up within the Ministry of Home Affairs and Organisation and Method (O & M) Division was transferred to its charge from the Cabinet Secretariat. On 07th February, 1973, the work relating to Department of Administrative Reforms was transferred to Department of Personnel created under Cabinet Secretariat on 01st August, 1970 and was re-designated as Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. In April, 1977, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms was shifted from Cabinet Secretariat to the Ministry of Home Affairs. In March 1985, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms was elevated to a full fledged Ministry of Personnel and Training, Administrative Reforms, Public Grievances and Pensions. On December 10, 1985 Ministry of Personnel and Training, Administrative Reforms, Public Grievances and Pensions was re-designated as the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions with three departments namely, Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) (http://darpg.gov.in) and Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare. This Ministry was placed under the overall charge of the Prime Minister assisted by a Minister of State.

"Sakala" marches ahead in replication
Dr. Shahaida, Initiative- Lead Member, ASCI while presenting the status of PM-award winning initiative, "Sakala" informed that it has been marching ahead in the replication activity with states (CG, CH, HP, JK, KL, MH, MZ, NL, OD, RJ, SK and UK) initiating and implementing citizen-centric service delivery in stipulated time-frame. ASCI was represented in the National Workshop on "Right to Public Service Delivery- Implementation of RTS Act in States" in Jammu (Nov 11-12, 2016)

20 States implemented RTS Act: Secretary, AR & PG
